How To Avoid A Google Adwords Penalty With Your Online Dating Site

Google is currently the highest quality source of traffic out there… but they can be a bit picky with what type of content and products they allow advertisers to promote on the Google Display network. Yes, we know they frown on gambling, adult dating sites, dodgy weight loss offers, and certain affiliate marketing schemes, but over the past couple of months they’ve become stricter than ever.

Since they’re the number one source of display traffic, you have got to play by their rules if you want to advertise and be visible in the search results.

A Few Tips for Keeping You’re Dating Site Compliant
Besides some of the obvious rules (no gambling, dodgy offers, or “misleading” landing pages that use cloaking or malware), there are a few basic page design rules that you should abide by if you want to stay compliant. Thankfully for you when you sign up with a white label dating templates such as Dating Factory, the majority of the work is done for you. But it is worth reading through and making sure you make the extra effort to make sure your white label dating website is Google compliant.

* There should be an actual website around the landing page. Your site should be complete — not just a VSL or opt-in page. You need all the regular pages that a “legitimate” site has — about us, privacy policy, contact, terms & conditions, etc. And don't forget the FAQ page, this is a great page for content.
* Content is most definitely king! Having little or no content is a fast route to a penalty. Write something about your business, yes you have caught the attention of the visitor – now enthral him.
* Your site should be well designed. The more corporate looking, the better. You don’t need to spend thousands on a fancy design, but it should be pleasing to the eye. So make sure your images are relevant - if you’re an online dating site for Dubai then make sure the images reflect that and not .
* Navigation on every page. The customer should be able to easily navigate your site. Most advertisers don’t use navigation because it distracts from the main goal — a purchase or lead — but Google requires it so therefore you must have it.
* Don’t forget simple SEO rules. Yes you’ve grabbed the user and he is on your site, but one of convincing Google you’re not trying to con them is to optimize the page. So remember Page Titles and Header Tags.
* Breadcrumb navigation where possible. Again, making it easy for users to navigate your dating site.
* Photos/bios on your about us page and links to Google+ profiles when possible. This makes it obvious that you’re a real person.
* Putting your name out there gives transparency into who you are. This also means your active with Social Media and "getting" the word out there.
* Address, map of company location and free or local rate telephone number. Real and legit dating businesses provide phone support. And offer a support desk. If a customer has an issue Google wants it to be easy for them to contact you.
* Put a privacy policy link next to every email opt-in form. Your site members need to know that you’re not going to share their info with other websites.
* A big fat footer with additional navigation detail - make sure all your important pages have a link to them (Noticing a trend here? Google loves navigation.)
* BBB, Verisign, or Trustee seals properly linked to certificates. You don’t need any of these to be on Google, but again, it’s more proof that you own a legitimate business.
* On the same subject, no unverified awards or seals. Don't claim to be associated with this or that and not be.
* No ridiculous claims, like “Lose 40lbs in 5 Days” or “Make 53,232 with This Amazing Facebook Hack”.

Some Final Thoughts
The sad truth is you need to read, understand, and follow everything presented here if you’re looking to use Google to advertise your online dating business: https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/6008942?hl=en&rd=1

Now, occasionally you’ll see sites advertising on the GDN that do not follow the above rules and advice, or even some of the rules on the page linked in the previous paragraph. Why are they able to do things that seem to be against Google’s policies? The short answer is that it’s unclear. But the long answer is that you should try to stay Google compliant and forget what everyone else is doing.
